Maybe they need some justice. Every time the police arrest them they get nailed. The community expect police to deal with problems that need to be dealt with by traditional methods.
Phil its not the 60’s, its 2025!
The youth have no respect for any do-nothing, achieved-nothing, uneducated Elders!
Todays Elders are yesterdays delinquents who somehow got old!
There is no traditional solution on the table!
The only solution is jail!
In the centre you have Ned Hargreaves demanding Police be unarmed in Yuendumu. And now touring Southern capitals carrying on about another grandson dead. Sad state of affairs but clearly no one in Yuendumu was looking after this disabled grandson. Now Ms Wilson lamenting the fact of no Police at Peppi. Does anybody really know what anyone wants? Police, no Police, Police without guns. Perhaps the government can send armed welfare officers out to these places. What a nightmare to be in government or Policing or in the NT.
Indoctrinated juveniles / young adults residing rural-remote or rural-urban has significance. The Jovi Boys would not exist in midst of Stuart Park Community. Peppimenarti. Is ruled by ‘Jovi Boys. At their will and at a cost to each and every member of the Peppimenarti Community. Our NT Community has a number of cultural values and borders. But Jovi Boys exert their prescence, behaviours regardless. They choose! Our Government(s) accept. We all know why they accept. “Cost – Vote – Culture – Negative Media”. The Jovi Boys will be with us for as long as Citizens accept prioritization of both Jovi Boys and NT Govt(s). There is only One Nation . . . the Australian Nation. And every Australian entitled to a voice. One voice each. And that is the one voice . . . THAT IS ABSENT.
Both a choice . . . and a responsibility? Living rural — remote on cultural land is a cultural choice. To be financed, supported by Indigenous Organisations. Living on rural – urban land is both a right and a choice, to be supported, governed, exactly as for every Australian citizen. Rights / Responsibilities . . . the protection. Stuart Park Community viz-a-viz Peppimenarti Community? YOU CAN’T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. Rural – Remote can be assisted. But not ‘demanding’. And it is that gap that allows for Jovi Boy’s to exploit Peppimenarti Community and not so at Stuart Park? And of course, excuses NT Govt’s from delivering their responsibilities?
