Police are looking for a man they allege used a removalist’s trolley to steal a near new couch worth $400 from the St Vincent De Paul Society op-shop in Stuart Park.
Constable Emma Lacey said in a statement, that on October 2, a man went into the Westralia St shop and looked around briefly, before leaving, only to come back soon after with a removalist’s trolley.
She said he allegedly loaded the trolley with the near new, blue two-seater couch valued at $400, and wheeled it from the store without paying.
At the time, the staff member was busy helping other customers, she said.
“This charity assists Territorians experiencing poverty and inequality. The $400 this couch could have sold for would have been used to help families in need,” Cons Lacy said.
She said they were looking for a man who was in the shop at the time, and may be able to help them. He was described as a slim Caucasian man in his 40s, about 170cm tall, with a brown moustache. Cons Lacey said he was wearing a blue shirt, black and orange shorts, a black cap and red sneakers.
