A 20-year old man who was stabbed in the abdomen by a teenager on April 2 in Nakara has died after three weeks of confinement at the Royal Darwin Hospital, police say.
Initial police reports said the victim was in a “stable condition” when he was brought to the hospital. But he had sustained serious abdominal injuries that required surgery.
Police said he died on Saturday as a result of the attack.
An 18-year-old male is currently in custody on a charge of unlawfully causing serious harm.
NT Police did not disclose what weapon was used for the stabbing. They charged the teen with unlawfully causing serious harm.
Bail was previously refused.
The motive of the assault that led to the death of the man is unknown.
Police said on-going investigations are being conducted by the NT Police Major and Serious Crime Squad.
