Man dies after being ejected from vehicle in rural crash

A 30-year-old man has died after being ejected from his vehicle in a rollover crash in Girraween early Sunday morning, NT Police said.

The crash occurred around 2:30 am Sunday morning on Power Road, about 600 metres south of Girraween Rd.

Police said they found the man ejected from the vehicle shortly after the rollover and attempted first aid.

A passing motorist reportedly assisted police at the scene to search for any other possible passengers while police provided first aid to the driver.

Police said the white 2018 Toyota Landcruiser utility vehicle had rolled and come to rest on its side on the opposite side of the road

NT Fire & Rescue and St John Ambulance officers were called to assist however the man later died at the scene.

“It’s apparent to us from interviewing residents in the area that the police patrol, travelling in the opposite direction, was on scene within a couple of minutes of the crash,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner.

“We’re appealing to anyone who saw the vehicle travelling through Girraween prior to the crash, and any friends or family of the deceased familiar with his movements last night to contact police.”

Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit attended and investigated the crash throughout the night, police said.
