A 31-year-old man is facing weapons charges after an incident in Moil on Friday night in which another man was allegedly assaulted with an “edged weapon” and rushed to hospital, NT Police said.
The 31-year-old man was a “known relative” to the victim and was charged with using a controlled weapon at night and unlawfully causing serious harm.
Police said they responded to reports of a disturbance outside a residence on Linde Street around 8pm Friday. They found the victim, also a 31-year-old man, with facial and head injuries who was taken to hospital for “urgent treatment”.
The alleged attacker was arrested at the scene and taken to the Palmerston Watch House.
“Anyone who was in the area of Linde Street on Friday night, between the hours of 8pm and 9pm, is urged to contact police on 131 444. Please quote reference number 9906668,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Jon Beer.
