A man has been charged with murder following the death of his partner in Alice Springs on Saturday after she was allegedly attacked with a blunt weapon, NT Police said.
NT government crime marketing manager Sita Bacher said in statement on Sunday the 51-year-old man had been charged with one count of murder, one breach of a domestic violence order, and one count of being armed with an offensive weapon at night.
Jerry Robertson is listed with those charges to appear for a mention in Alice Springs Local Court on Monday.
In a statement on Saturday Ms Bacher said that about 9:50am police received reports that a 47-year-old woman was in a critical condition after being allegedly assaulted with a blunt weapon at a bush camp near Stott Terrace, Alice Springs.
She said there were attempts to resuscitate the woman but she was declared dead at 10:45am, while the the 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
