A felon out on parole and facing three counts of domestic violence charges was arrested in Darwin early Friday morning after his partner tipped off police that he was sleeping in the backyard of a Nightcliff residence, NT Police said.
Police said the man had proven elusive to authorities and is now facing revocation of parole and was charged with three counts of domestic violence assaults on his partner.
He was arrested sleeping in the yard some time after midnight by a joint police taskforce which executed an arrest plan and made use of patrol dog teams to cover likely escape routes.
“The arrest of an offender who had been actively evading police of late was made relatively simple thanks to the cooperation between the 3 units along with Darwin General Duties,” Sgt Carol Maxwell said.
The man is scheduled to appear in court today, September 26.
