A man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted an employee of a Wagaman business and stole her handbag on Saturday afternoon, NT Police said.
Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Trent Abbott said in a statement that about noon on Saturday police received reports that a man had entered an unspecified business at the shopping block on Wagaman Place in Wagaman, and allegedly assaulted a female employee before stealing her handbag.
“The alleged offender handed the bag to two male youths who were outside the business, before fleeing on a bicycle, with the youth fleeing on foot,” Snr Sgt Abbott said.
“The 19-year-old male was located yesterday allegedly in possession of the stolen items and was subsequently arrested.”
Snr Sgt Abbott said the alleged offender had been charged with aggravated robbery and remanded in custody.
“We would like to thank the public for coming forward with information that ultimately led to the timely resolution of this matter,” Snr Sgt Abbott said.
