An Alice Springs man allegedly assaulted a police officer while being arrested over allegedly driving dangerously while drunk, NT Police said, after he was tracked by a drone.
Superintendent Antony Deutrom said about 10:30pm Wednesday, police used a drone to to track a car that was reported to be driving dangerously around the CBD.
He said police, through drone footage, saw the Holden Commodore stop on Todd St, and officers arrested the 19-year-old driver, who allegedly assaulted one officer as he was being secured in a police vehicle.
Supt Deutrom said he expected the man would be charged with assaulting a member of the police force, driving a motor vehicle unlicensed, driving in a dangerous manner, and driving with a high range blood alcohol content
“This sort of dangerous behaviour puts everyone on the roads and footpaths at risk,” he said.
