A 30-year-old man has been arrested following a police raid on his Malak home that located a mobile device allegedly containing child abuse material, NT Police said.

The search warrant was executed on Thursday at the man’s residence by the Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team (JACET). Police did not say what led them to the man’s home.

He was arrested and charged with possessing or controlling child abuse material, three counts of using a carriage service for child abuse material and failing to comply.

“Northern Territory Police and the JACET will continue to target offenders committing these revolting crimes,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Akers in a statement.

“This type of offending is unacceptable and if you are committing these crimes, you will be caught.”

Police said the public can review online safety tips by visiting the eSafety Commissioner website here and can report any information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation by calling Crimestoppers on 1`800 333 000 or visiting its website here.

A report can also be made to the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation via the Report Abuse button at its website.
