An undisclosed quantity of drugs and “edged weapons” were seized from a car in Parap over the weekend with three men charged as part of a drug and organised crime operation, NT Police said on Monday.

The vehicle containing the drugs and weapons was apprehended some time on Saturday with two men aged 39 and 26 arrested at the scene and taken to the Palmerston watch house, police said.

A second vehicle was apprehended in Howard Springs a short time later where an undisclosed quantity of drugs, cash and a firearm were seized and a 46-year-old man arrested at the scene.

Police said they executed two further search warrants on home in Fannie Bay and Coconut Grove where further weapons and “items indicative of drug supply” were also seized.

“Detectives from Drug and Organised Crime will continue to disrupt the supply of illicit substances into the Territory and these arrests should serve as a warning to those involved,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Wayne Newell said.

The three men were expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

The 39-year-old man was charged with a series of drug and firearm offences including possessing a schedule 1 dangerous drug – traffickable quantity; possessing a supplying a commercial quantity of a schedule 2 dangerous drug; possessing “tainted property”; and making a threat to kill.

The 26 and 46-year-old were charged with possessing a schedule 1 dangerous drug – traffickable quantity and possessing a schedule 2 dangerous drug – less than traffickable.
