The suspension of Defence Housing Australia’s Lee Point housing development, which may lead to a permanent halt, will negatively impact the Territory’s business sector, the Chamber of Commerce and the housing industry’s peak body have warned.
The 800-home project was voluntarily suspended last week until the end of March next year after Larrakia’s traditional owners, who had earlier approved the development, withdrew support and aired their opposition to the project citing significant areas of cultural heritage located within the site.
“Larrakia Nation chairperson Jerome Cubillo said they want a permanent halt on the project after meeting with DHA chief executive Barry Jackson in Canberra last week.”
I think most provide industry business owners want a halt to the Tax Payer monies that go to the Larrakia Nation!
