The Korean Film Festival in Australia will screen four free movies in Alice Springs in October as part of its touring program.

KOFFIA programmer Francis Lee said the four films showcase the best of Korean cinema culture, with two dramas, a thriller, and a comedy to be screened.

“We are thrilled to introduce the touring program, which allows us to share the beauty and diversity of Korean cinema with a wider audience across Australia. This year’s selection of films promises to captivate viewers with its rich storytelling and exceptional cinematography,” Mr Lee said.

Kicking off the screenings will be FAQ, which Mr Lee described as, a light-hearted family comedy that follows the story of an overwhelmed primary school student who embarks on a journey of discovery, learning the secrets of the world through conversations with a talking bottle of rice wine.

Mr Lee said Don’t Buy the Seller was a gripping mystery revolving around a woman in the crosshairs of a deranged serial killer after purchasing a defective washing machine, while Dog Days was a heart-warming drama that delves into the interconnected stories of individuals and their dogs, highlighting the deep emotional ties and meaningful connections between species.

And lastly, Mr Lee said, Picnic is an indie drama that tells the story of an elderly woman reconnecting with her past friends and finding new joy in life, highlighting themes of friendship and ageing with grace.

The films will screen at Alice Springs Cinema from October 9 and 12 For full details and to buy tickets, visit the KOFFIA website.
