UPDATED: Two men have been arrested over the stabbing death of a 20-year-old male in a serious incident at the Karama shopping centre Wednesday night which also sent a 25-year-old female to hospital in a related attack.

NT Police said they believe the 20-year-old man was standing with friends in the carpark of the shopping centre just before midnight when two men allegedly got out of a dark SUV and stabbed the man who ran down the street.

Security assisted the man until St John Ambulance arrived but he later died in hospital.

Police said this afternoon that the 25-year-old woman was stabbed in a separate but related incident at a nearby location.

The woman suffered injuries to her stomach and was taken to hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition, police said.

The weapon used has not been recovered.

Two men have been arrested in connection to the incidents. One was found in Karama and the other in Winnellie where the vehcile was also found.

Police had established two crime scenes earlier in the day and traffic in the suburb was restricted.

The suburb of Karama has dealt with ongoing crime and drug issues for years.
