Both the federal and Territory governments will not say if they are owed money by the failed Warlpiri Youth Development Aboriginal Corporation, which was placed in administration in early August after having mining royalty funding cut by traditional owners, but which had kept providing services using other money.
The Yuendumu-based corporation’s most recently published annual report for the year ending June 2022 – which was not lodged with ORIC until April 27 this year – showed the organisation continued to provide services despite almost $2 million in funding from the Warlpiri Education and Training Trust and Granites Mine Affected Area Aboriginal Corporation for those services having been withheld, with money being shuffled from elsewhere in the organisation to cover the shortfall.

Looks like a thorough audit is needed. The victims here are the children left to aimlessly roam the streets.
