There are three less police officers in Alice Springs now than in late January when the Prime Minister announced there would be 30 more police, NT Police Association president Nathan Finn said, accusing the government of misleading the public and saying there are not enough police to fill regular shifts, let alone provide the 50 “extra” officers daily that were promised recently.
Chief Minister Natasha Fyles and Police Minister Brent Potter announced the government’s “summer plan for a safer Alice Springs” on November 14, in which they claimed it would be a “zero-tolerance summer for antisocial behaviour”.

This government just lies to cover up their failures, then ignore and go silent when they’re called out for it.
“Crime is at the lowest level in years” – it wasn’t, it was at its highest.
“Police numbers will rise” – they didn’t, they just used more overtime to cover for their failures.
“We are a competent government” – they are clearly incompetent and are trashing our Territory.
