The former operator of the Darwin city burger joint Good Thanks has been fined $21,000 in the Federal Circuit Court for underpaying a young chef and showing no remorse for it, the Fair Work Ombudsman said.
Ombudsman Anna Booth said her office secured the penalty against the Knuckey St business’s former operators Territory Tough after Judge Tass Liveris ruled the company disregarded its obligations under the Fair Work Act, and had shown no contrition for the breach.
What a shame these young people made a mistake.

Pretty clear they refused to accept they made a mistake and rejected the order to backpay the worker. Clearly the staff were not happy if the staff have had to escallate the matter to the Federal Court to be paid correctly.
Stealing wages from our lowest paid is criminal. The owners and managers who continue to take advantage of young people should be named and shamed and their businesses closed.
