Paramedics have responded to two incidents over the weekend, one where a child spilt boiling water on her lap, and another where two people who tried to break up a dog fight were attacked by the dogs.

St John Ambulance NT operations manager Craig Garraway said the four-year-old girl in Humpty Doo spilt boiling water on herself on Saturday.

“The girl spilt some boiling water on her lap, over on her groin,” Mr Garraway said.

“It’s quite a painful injury and paramedics responded to that…and obviously transported to the hospital for treatment.

“Unfortunately, no matter how hard we try to be careful, these things do happen.”

Meanwhile, also on Saturday, two people who tried to break up two dogs fighting ended up injured after they were attacked by the dogs in Darwin suburbs.

“One person sustained quite a nasty laceration to their leg, which required attention at the hospital along with the other person,” Mr Garraway said.

“You know that’s one of the dangers of getting involved in a dog fight, dogs are obviously set upon each other and don’t realize people are trying to help in the background.

“These two people try to do the right thing I understand and unfortunately have been injured.”
