This year’s Darwin Fringe Festival kicks off this Friday, showcasing the NT’s best-emerging artists with performances ranging from art, theatre, music, and comedy.

The 10-day festival, with more than 70 per cent local acts, features 74 events with 145 individual performances, shows, and experiences across 15 venues, with tickets averaging $20 and some events free of charge.

“Darwin Fringe really allows you to be transformed with something in the program for everybody,” Darwin Fringe Festival Director Hannah Illingworth said.

“There’s so much talent in the NT and such a rich tapestry of narratives. It feels special to bring so much of that together in a way that the community can connect with it.”

The event, which is supported by the NT Government through the Northern Territory Major Events Company, will run from Friday until July 21.

“The Darwin Fringe Festival has cemented itself as a community arts festival that provides a platform for local artists to hone their craft,” NTMEC CEO Suzana Bishop said.

“Supporting the festival boosts the local arts and tourism and hospitality industries as people head out to venues across the city to see Territory talent.”

As the biggest platform for emerging, independent, and experimental artists in the NT, the Fringe Festival is an open-access festival supporting the growth of the arts community by providing opportunities for all artists to emerge, experiment, and showcase new and diverse works to local and national audiences.
