Two Palmerston females had a “very frightening experience” when they were awoken and threatened by an unknown intruder in the early hours of Wednesday, NT Police said.

Police said around 2am, an unidentified man broke into a “commercial business” on Baldwin Drive in Woodroffe.

The offender allegedly caused damage to the property and threatened the “two female residents” who were sleeping at the premises before stealing “a number of small items” and fleeing the scene, police said.

Police did not detail what belongings stolen but said they later recovered most of the items.

They also did not mention how the women were threatened or if the man had used any weapon to cause threat.

Police did not say if the man had an accomplice or acted alone.

“This was a very frightening experience for the occupants who were awoken by an intruder at 2am,” Acting Superintendent Mark Bland said.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect.

Strike Force Trident detectives asked anyone with information, particularly CCTV footage, to make contact on 131 444 and quote reference 9915923.
