Free parking in Darwin after app crashes

Darwin motorists have been granted the greatest gift of all: free parking in the CBD as the council works to fix the PayStay app which crashed nation-wide on Monday.

Parking was free in the city on Monday and is expected to be free on Tuesday as well, due to the app crash, council said.

“PayStay are working hard to resolve the problem as soon as possible,” a spokeswoman said.

The council said no fines will be issued for people. The app going down made it impossible for people to pay.

They will be “working through the night to fix it,” the spokeswoman said.

People are asked to follow other parking restrictions including time limits, and tickets may be issued if they do not follow the rules, the spokeswoman said.

Restrictions include not parking in loading bays or disabled parks unless permitted, council said.
