Four youths who were on bail, including one child aged 11, have been arrested in connection to an aggravated robbery at Hibiscus Tavern on Wednesday night that saw the group allegedly threaten a staff member with a weapon and stealing alcohol, NT Police said.

The four males were arrested by detectives from Strike Force Trident yesterday at an undisclosed location, with police saying the 12 and 11-year-olds were also involved in stealing a car and breaking into a home on the same night as the tavern heist.

It’s believed others involved are still at large.

“No one deserves to be threatened in their place of work and Strike Force Trident will continue to combat property offences across the Greater Darwin Region,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland.

“Investigations are ongoing to identify the remaining offenders for both the aggravated robbery and Nightcliff unlawful entry.”

One 15-year-old allegedly involved in the robbery at Hibiscus was charged with aggravated robbery, possessing of a schedule 2 drug and serious breach of bail. The other 15-year-old was also charged with aggravated robbery and serious breach of bail.

The 11-year-old was also charged with breaching bail, aggravated robbery, unlawful use of a vehicle, stealing, damage to property and obtaining a benefit by deception.

The 12-year-old was charged with aggravated robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possession of drugs, stealing, obtaining benefit by deception and serious breach of bail.

All four children were remanded and expected to appear in court on Friday.

Police originally reported that up to seven kids were involved in the tavern robbery.

“We continue to urge anyone who witnesses this sort of behaviour to call 131 444 or in an emergency call Triple Zero,” Sgt Bland said.
