Five 13-year-old males who allegedly stole a car from a northern suburbs residence overnight and led police on a chase through Berrimah have been arrested, NT Police said.
Police received reports around 11:30pm that a group of youth had allegedly stolen a car from a Parap residence.
The car was tracked by police into Berrimah where a pursuit was initiated and ended on Amy Johnson Avenue when police deployed a tyre deflation device.
Four of the 13-year-olds have been charged with vehicle offences, while one “has been dealt with under the Youth Justice Act”, police said.
“These arrests were the result of a coordinated effort between Trident, Dog Ops and General Duties,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Dale Motter-Barnard.
“I have no doubt that the arrests prevented further offending from occurring across Darwin.
“Northern Territory Police continue to urge anyone who witnesses crime or anti-social behaviour to make contact on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.
