The splitting of NT Fire and Rescue from NT Police and NT Emergency Services to create stand alone agencies has been welcomed by the United Workers Union, but the NT boss has said the fact firefighters only found out about the split from the media did not augur well for their relationship with new Minister Brent Potter.
Chief Minister Natasha Fyles announced on Monday the end of the so-called tri-service, with Police, Fire and Rescue, and Emergency Services becoming three separate agencies as part of her Cabinet reshuffle. Mr Potter was announced as both the Police Minister and the Fire and Emergency Services Minister at the time.
