Guests can choose to feed the fish from the comfort of the concrete stairs of the viewing platform or wade into the water and have the fish tickle their feet as they scramble over each other to take the bread from your hand!

Aquascene, located at 28 Doctors Gully Road is preserved and managed by local Darwin residents. Aquascene is also surrounded by gardens for a pleasant stroll and features a display of beautiful tropical orchids and even a rainforest. Take a walk through the rainforest to discover Peel’s Well, the original water source for the township of Darwin.

Be surprised to see various fish species such as milkfish, mullet, bream, catfish, Tiera batfish and the famous Territory barramundi. Visitors may also get a glimpse of rock cod, mangrove jack, rays, parrotfish, diamond fish and mud crabs.

The fish have shed their normal shyness throughout the 70-year tradition and are willing to be hand-fed to the delight of more than 70,000 fascinated locals and tourists annually.

So, have your camera ready and get up close with the wild marine life of Darwin Harbour.
