An elderly Katherine woman used a shovel to stop four people breaking into her house through a window they had smashed, NT Police said.
Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that at about 3:30am Wednesday police were told that four unknown people had allegedly tried to break into the house in Cox Crescent, Katherine, after smashing a window.
It was fortunate that the lady had taken the shovel indoors to clean it! I hope she is ok after her ordeal. Having spent 18 months in Katherine I know how hard it is to sleep soundly
One can only hope she sharpened it after the clean.
