The redeveloped land around the controversial Cyclone Tracy memorial at Bundilla Beach cannot be opened to the public because the council is waiting for a toilet to arrive from Sydney which could take another two months, Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said, while warning the public to use the toilet properly when it arrives.
The land was originally scheduled to be open by October, but works did not begin until September 30 last year, with the council then claiming it would be completed by the end of last year.
Just another balls-up for ‘Konny come Lately’. Obviously not the DCC’s fault again.
When you write Tenders, you include a clause for ‘Failure to Deliver in the Specified Period’ !
Tenderers have an obligation to meet these timeframes or suffer serious financial consequences.
Maybe the DCC forgot to include that paragraph or accepted a variation which excludes responsibility.

CoD’s ‘CycloneTracy memorial wasn’t built in time for the 50th anniversary – no surprise there! And Atkins Drive is still closed to vehicles two months after the anniversary!
It’s not funny but it’s certainly a joke.
