Wulagi Supermarket and its director Vinay Madasu have been ordered by the Federal Court to pay more than $100,000 in fines and repayments after it underpaid a worker for 18 months of work.
The Fair Work Ombudsman, Anna Booth, filed a lawsuit against the shop and its director for failing to pay an employee more than $68,000 in 2020 and 2021. Ms Booth expressed disappointment over the necessity of litigation to obtain orders for the full back-pay, following the business’s failure to adhere to a compliance notice.
