Darwin ratepayers will pay 5.5 per cent more next financial year, while $23.5 million will be spent on capital works including $4.5 million for stormwater upgrades and reconstruction and $3.5 million for roads resurfacing and renewal, Darwin Council’s newly released Municipal Plan shows.
Lord Mayor Peter Styles said in a press release the general rates increase equated to $104.99 per year or $2.02 per week for a single-dwelling property, including a four per cent rise in kerbside collection fees.
Can’t quite put my finger on what the new council office reminds me of, but there’s something about that golden base and long extended shaft that feels… familiar. Must be the wet season lingering — things are getting a bit steamy.
