A Darwin man is in hospital after shooting himself in the foot with a firearm he made, leading police to seize other ‘privately manufactured’ weapons and explosive detonation devices from his Moil home over the weekend.

Police received multiple calls reporting a gun shot around 4:10am Sunday morning in the northern suburb, including a call from a 43-year-old man to self-report that he had “unintentionally shot himself in the foot”, police said in a statement.
