If Local Government has so much of ratepayer’s cash to splash around how come they are not reducing their exorbitant council rates. This would make Darwin a more attractive destination for people to live. At the same time it would assist those doing it tough as the cost of living rises. These would be far more responsible actions from local government rather than building more memorials to their irrelevance. Who was it that said – ‘Local Government’. The last refuge of the incompetent!’
I guess we can expect our rates to increase to pay for this.
Why do we need this? It is ratepayers money and I dont remember being asked about it.
Can we stop this??
A huge erection in the Darwin CBD that makes no sense.
I would like to see Darwin City Council scrap its outrageous palace proposal and instead shrink to a small-town council that collects rubbish, and maintains verges and parks.
More importantly, council should fix city potholes as these appear, rather than permitting 100 mm depth holes to destroy rims, bend steering adjustment bars generating ongoing tyre damage, and also cause radiator cores to sag, which is the cause of all leaks immediately below the filler tank. Few drivers are aware of the extremely expensive correlation between potholes and vehicle damage.
This out-of-control council never consults Darwin residents nor, apparently, crown law because its demand that city parking users install automatic payment apps on their phones exposes them to embezzlement and is illegal and, no doubt, litigious.
DCOH has done very well, tender wise, under the Vatskalis council!
not what Darwin needs
