Amy Milford, founder and owner of Darwin Family Life, a go-to hub of information for families, is a finalist for the award’s Online Business category.
Ms Milford’s said Darwin Family Life is an online community which also supports other small local businesses, with advertising through the website, and on its Facebook and Instagram.
“When my children are on school holidays, I can schedule my social media, blogs and clients advertising work ahead of time, and then spend the holidays with my children. I can work the hours I want, from anywhere I can take my laptop and have Internet,” she said.

Ms Milford said she grew up in the Territory, is a single mum to Maddy, 11, Zac and Ollie, 9, and Violet, 6, and launched Darwin Family Life in 2017 while Violet was a baby.
She said the inspiration for starting Darwin Family Life was to find a better balance between family and work. and attributes the online business’s success to her drive and motivation in business and life.
Aside from operating Darwin Family Life for the last five years, Ms Milford said she is also a regular local radio guest, promoting family events, and writes blogs and articles for her website.
The Australian Small Business Champions awards started in 1999, and it now has more than 100 categories.
Award finalists are listed on the Australian Small Business Champions awards website, and winners will be announced at a gala in Sydney in September.
