CLP backbencher Tanzil Rahman broke weeks of silence Sunday over bullying allegations in an unusual statement from his electorate office rather than through the CLP’s highly-paid spin doctors, stating he was “deeply offended” by the allegations and “actively considering my legal options”.
It was unclear why Mr Rahman issued the statement now, three weeks after the allegations that he bullied and verbally abused two female parliamentary staffers was first reported by the ABC. He refused to comment to all media at the time, while Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro refused to say on local radio how she dealt with the scandal, claiming it was a “sensitive HR matter” that needed to be kept secret, despite the workplace conflict already having been resolved by Speaker Robyn Lambley.
