The Country Liberal Party broke electoral laws by failing to publicly report how much it raised in financial gifts over the last six months of the year and who gave it the money, which could see the party fined $176,000 for keeping its finances secret.
The CLP executive, including president Shane Stone, have refused to comment on why the party is keeping secret how much it raised in the first reporting period for the 2024 election, from July 1 to December 31, 2023. The deadline for all parties to report was January 30.
” Under the Electoral Act, a failure to disclose financial gifts “without reasonable excuse” carries a maximum penalty of 1,000 penalty units. The current penalty unit in the NT is $176.”
What would donators think if they knew their donations would be paying off a $176000 fine?

See, this is why a CLP government won’t fix the issues we’ve seen with the current to. The system is rigged and there is no incentive for them to change it. Come August vote for a party that doesn’t take corporate donations, as it’s the first step to fixing the flaws in the current electoral system
