Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro has suspended the demolition of Anzac Oval in Alice Springs that was to house the $154 million Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Gallery of Australia, suggesting it will still be built but the “next steps” need to be worked through.

The move to suspend works at Anzac Oval will add further delays to the long-stalled project, which the previous Labor Government had stalled for years, but in June awarded the contract to Sitzler to build.
