The Finocchiaro Government has frozen car registration fees and will give Territorians a free driver’s licence for a year, as part of its plan to ease the cost-of-living crisis, but the costs to the Territory’s budget have not been disclosed.

Starting from today, registration fees for approximately 155,000 cars, motorcycles, and trailers will be frozen. As of December 1, light trailers (under 750kgs) can be registered for up to three years, while driver’s license renewals will be free of charge for one year starting January 1.
