Darwin Gulag run by NTG Darwin Waterfront & City of Darwin Gestapo whilst GOVCO Private / Public collusion allows money laundering with impunity. Meanwhile increasing poverty is a crime. Does Darwin sound like Venezuela or South Africa? Darwin is no gateway to Asia.
Orange Sky run a free mobile shower and laundry service along with a team willing to talk and listen without judgment They also constantly advertise for helpers to assist in the delivery of this service Perhaps some of the poor people who are unemployed and unable to shower or wash their clothes could make use of this service and then use all that other free time they have to assist Orange Sky and the community in helping others Or would that be racist as well.

Trying to codify ‘smells bad’ or ‘dirty clothes’ is never going to work, regardless of the colour of someone’s skin.
We’ve already seen the above court case where the bar could not refuse a drink to someone not fitting the hygiene policy of the bar vs discrimination law.
My husband is constantly complaining about middle aged/elderly women’s terrible perfume and how much it annoys him. He’s sure many other people are just as annoyed as he is.
The stench is so bad that you have to hold your breath for nearly the entire trip!
Should we refuse those smelly old people a seat on the public bus?
How are you going to define ‘dirty’? Where does the line stop between ‘too dirty to travel on the public bus’, ‘not dirty’ or ‘dirty but still OK to travel’?
It’s all subjective and it’s the loudest dog whistle ever to anyone who dislikes different people who don’t adhere to their own ideas of so-called ‘cleanliness’ or ‘hygiene’ norms.
Y’know what you could do if someone’s smell offends you for a few minutes out of your busy day? Ignore it.
Or maybe you could try to invoke a little bit of compassion and understanding for some other human being who doesn’t share the same resources or control over their life that you do, sitting there in your nice clean clothes and your expensive deodorant.
Here’s another thought and this is not a judgement call:
think about hippy style/women who don’t shave their arm pits or wear perfume or deodorant who also smell of Body Odour. As a sister, I personally don’t enjoy their odour either, so would they qualify as being refused a place on public transport due to this new smell test?
Can you imagine the uproar as soon as a white person gets refused!
However, look on the bright side: this is another wonderful entry into the 200 reasons to vote out this current CLP group of Crappy Littleminded People when the time comes.
The satire on TransparentNT is hilarious right now about this latest stupid policy FAIL and others:
Good JOB CLP, well done! Thanks for keeping everyone else healthy!!!
Have you heard of the skin disease Staphylococcus aureus ?
I picked up a staphylococcus aureus simply by sitting on a A&E Chair at RDH for GURD/Gall Bladder issues! After waiting 4 hours I went home and did not see any DR at A&E! Week later diagnosed with staphylococcus aureus! Took forever to treat!
Last time I got staphylococcus aureus was 10 years ago as a Housing Commission Inspector where the golden rule was “Dont touch anything”! Took forever to treat!
So everyone else can put up with the disgusting feral smell ( and lets not forget the behavior) on a public bus? Thats ok with the people who dont use the bus?
Just as everyone has to put up with the disgusting unhygienic ferals in the public hospitals, making a mockery of the hospitals attempts to ensure high cleaning standards in a hospital or other healthcare facility and prevent the spread of infectious diseases ! If the Hospital cannot prove its got infection control managed, its no longer called a hospital. This is partly why you go into Hospital for one ailment and you pick up 1 or 2 more!
For fun, Why dont you check out the rough sleeping population that camps out in the adjoining RDH bushland and visit “their mate” in the wards and use the facilities, steal the coffee and anything in the ward fridges and clean up breakfast, lunch and dinner meals!!!
Good luck with the Hospital Accreditation Royal Darwin Hospital!
Give us a break. Imposing genuine community standards should not be portrayed as discriminatory. Some people are offensively smelly and dirty, and others engage in outrageous and even dangerous behaviour. Transit systems have always reserved the right to exclude such people from service. I suggest that some of the pious crusaders who perceive crushing tyranny in every minor regulation, ride on the bus to Casuarina or Palmerston and experience the real world.
Old Public Bus Driver Guidelines and Legislation forbid a bus driver to let anyone who looked disheveled! It was argued back then (20 years ago) the bus would be empty if enforced!
Cut out all the middle steps why don’t you, Crappy Littleminded People:
Just ban being Aboriginal.
That’s what you really want to do, isn’t it.
All these baby steps are heading in only one direction.
I imagine the anti-discrimination commission is going to be busy:

Are you saying Aboriginal people have extremely bad hygiene and/or dirty clothes? I would have to disagree with you there.
Some people, Aboriginal or not, have extremely bad hygiene and/or dirty clothes.
Try catching a bus when the stench is so bad that you have to hold your breath for nearly the entire trip.
Why should the public have to put up with that from anyone? We are trying to have a relatively civilised society here.

Like smoking and eating on the bus this rule has been around for a long time, just a beat up by the loopy left.
