Davis as usual tries to stop development and Smelt is trying to use this to roll Uibo, we would be well rid of the three.
Water usage is speculative scare mongering. These facilities use purified, demineralized water in closed systems. We have a data centre in Darwin city. If you need facts and figures dont rely on speculations by opponents of the centres.

Energy North have published documents, submitted to both the NT and the Federal governments, which set out their demands for 4 billion litres of water a year to run Project Ares, their proposed 1GW AI Centre in the Barkly.
That’s not scaremongering: that’s an actual application for environmental assessment.
What remains speculative is whether Beetaloo Digital’s proposal for a 2GW AI Centre at Berry Springs would use twice as much. And that is speculative purely because the company has not made a formal proposal for assessment. Their published documents do not mention water at all.
The Data Centre in the city is a small conventional facility that is not in any way comparable to these massive threats.
Well it seems the Pro supporters have voiced their support – There must be big money to be made. Whether its good for Territorians or the Territory as a whole will be forgotten in the greedy rush for Money.
Why did the City of Darwin LM Vatskalis, CEO Simone Saunders & Councillors keep the Data Centre built off Garry Miller Boulevard quiet? Was it another gifting of public land & infrastructure approved under ‘commercial in confidence’ similar to the $150m Civic Centre whilst rate-payers are slugged another 5.5% in levies. Data centres use water & energy & do not provide many jobs so it is the communities self-interest to understand why CLP are pushing data centre? Canada is undergoing the same debate.
