A 33-year-old man was arrested Sunday afternoon outside the Beachfront Hotel after allegedly threatening a person with a knife, just days after another man was stabbed in the chest at the popular pub, with the latest incident not publicly reported.
NT Police confirmed the arrest of the man on Sunday for possessing a “controlled weapon”, but did not make the incident public.
Sources told the NT Independent about the incident, which they said involved a taxi driver having a knife pulled on him outside the pub by an Aboriginal man around 3:40pm Sunday afternoon.
“No injuries were reported,” the police media unit said in an email after being questioned about the incident by the NT Independent.
Concerns have previously been raised about the government controlling what crimes are officially reported by police.
Knife crimes in particular have been documented in Chief Minister Natasha Fyles’ electorate of Nightcliff recently, with a man stabbed in the chest and suffering a punctured lung on Thursday night outside the Beachfront Hotel pub.
Also on Sunday night, three men allegedly stole a car at knifepoint on Litchfield Court in Nightcliff.
Police said they are still looking for the group that stopped a Hyundai Accent on the street before punching one of the occupants and stealing money and then taking off with the car.
That incident happened around 11:25pm Sunday night. Police are asking anyone with information to contact them on 131 444, quoting reference number 10351564.

The Fyles Labour Government have no clue on how to contain the crime.
