Roughly 1800 head of cattle were forced to be unloaded from live export ship Nine Eagle at Darwin Port after spending six nights aboard the stranded ship after an engine breakdown in Darwin Harbour.
A Federal Department of Agriculture spokesman said the removal of the cattle headed for Indonesia was necessary as the ship’s owner, Livestock Shipping Services, is still awaiting delivery of a part to fix the vessel’s engine.
