NT Police are calling for the public’s assistance in connection to the alleged indecent assault of a 10-year-old girl near Frangipanni Court in Katherine on Sunday afternoon, with a ‘person of interest’ identified who may be outstanding.
Police issued a statement Monday calling for information, after receiving a report the man indecently assaulted the girl around 5:20pm Sunday, while “several other children and witnesses were in the area at the time of the assault”.
“The victim managed to get away and ran to a family member’s residence for safety,” said police media director Mark Wilton in a statement.
“Detectives from the Katherine Criminal Investigation Branch are investigating and a person of interest has been identified.
“Police are urging anyone with information to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000 and quote reference number P26114317. You can also report anonymously via crimestoppersnt.com.au.”
A description of the alleged offender was not provided, nor was any further information about the incident.
