The Lawler Government has awarded the $154 million contract to build the Alice Spring’s national Aboriginal art gallery to Sitzler, at the same cost it first announced two years ago, which is at the low end of a 2019 cost range estimate, but the government will not say much Darwin’s Civic and State Square development will cost to complete, despite earlier pledging to reveal the cost.
The combined known cost of the Darwin and Alice Springs projects, based on figures that have been made public through contracts awarded and government reports estimating completion costs, is roughly $370 million.
What part of that winning design even remotely connects to it being an ‘Aboriginal’ Art gallery? It looks more like an art gallery for cardboard boxes with post it notes stuck to the side.

It is nice to dream, unfortunately it is and will for years an expensive dream but who really cares. Politicians spending taxpayers’ money don’t care about expenses as they will all be gone in time and let someone else worry about it. Clowns, the lot of them.
