Both teens allegedly drove the car a “short distance” before crashing it into a tree and fleeing the scene, police said.

The pair were arrested at Sanctuary Lakes later.

The 15-year-old, who was out on bail at the time of the incident, was charged with two counts of damaging property, aggravated unlawful entry, stealing, aggravated unlawful use of a vehicle, driving while unlicensed, negligent driving, leaving the scene of a collision, trespassing, possessing a controlled weapon at night and breaching bail.

He has been remanded in custody, police said, and is expected to front court today.

His accomplice, the 17-year-old male, was charged with similar offences, in addition to failure to comply with a youth order.

He was granted bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 15.
