A group of unidentified youths allegedly struck a 62-year-old woman in the head with a weapon on Monday night that left her disoriented and seeking help at the YMCA gym before collapsing on the floor with blood coming out of her head.
The woman, who was understood to have been working in the area at the time of the assault, was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with suspected serious head injuries. The incident took place around 10:30pm.
Police said the woman was later discharged from the hospital and that investigations are ongoing.
“Northern Territory Police and St John paramedics attended to an injured woman last night in Palmerston. The woman disclosed that she had been hit in the head with a stick by an unknown youth,” police media said in a statement.
“The victim sought help from nearby individuals and was taken to hospital. She has since been discharged and police are obtaining a statement. The matter remains ongoing.”
