NT Police have emphasised that a woman the agency says was killed in a collision in Palmerston yesterday was not already dead when the stolen car she was in crashed into another car, while it has been reported the driver was allegedly on bail after being on the run from police for close to a decade.

Detective Sergeant Richard Musgrave said in an updated statement about the death issued at 9.22am Thursday, that a 45-year-old woman was found dead in the back of a Nissan X-Trail immediately following a collision with a Toyota Corolla on Kirkland Road in Durack at about 5:10am Wednesday.
