A 29-year-old woman is in hospital after allegedly being stabbed by her 33-year-old partner at a residence in Nightcliff on Thursday afternoon, NT Police said.

Police received a call around 3pm that a woman “had been assaulted with a knife” at the Nightcliff home.

A police statement said the woman “received multiple puncture wounds” and was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where she remains on Friday in a stable condition.

Her 33-year-old male partner had fled the scene but was later arrested in Leanyer with assistance from the police’s dog unit and has been charged with unlawfully causing serious harm. He was expected to appear in Darwin Local Court today.

“This arrest was the result of a coordinated effort from Casuarina general duties, Dog Operation Unit, Crime and the Domestic and Family Violence Unit,” Detective Senior Sergeant Ian Young said.

“If you or someone you know are experiencing difficulties due to domestic violence, support services are available, including, but not limited to, 1800RESPECT (1800737732) or Lifeline 131 114.”
