UPDATED: Police have arrested and charged a 45-year-old woman with recklessly endangering life after she allegedly assaulted a 34-year-old woman in a Palmerston car park Wednesday night.

Police launched an investigation after the woman was found beaten and laying in the car park.

NT Police said they responded to a report that an injured woman with “significant injuries” was found laying in the car park near an unnamed commercial business on The Boulevard, which police have now refined to say it was “near a basketball court”.

Police did not provide the current condition of the woman or the extent of her injuries.

On Friday, police said the 45-year-old woman was arrested and charged with recklessly endangering life, acts intended to cause serious harm and damage to property.

Police initially called for the public’s assistance in identifying the attacker but provided no description.

It was the second serious assault in a Palmerston car park in less than a week, following a teen being sexually assaulted in a shopping centre car park on Sunday morning, just a few blocks from where the latest woman was found.

Police have not said if the suspect in that matter has been apprehended and also did not provide a description of that suspect at the time.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Budge urged anyone who may have seen the latest incident along The Boulevard on Wednesday night to contact them at 131 444 and quote reference number 9812895.

Anyone with information about the Sunday sexual assault incident can contact police via the above methods, quoting reference number 9810094.
