A woman was killed in a single vehicle rollover at Wickham Point overnight, NT Police said.

Police director of communications Mark Wilton said in a statement that just before 5am Wednesday, police received a report of a single vehicle rollover on Channel Island Road.

Mr Wilton said that when police and St John Ambulance arrived, they found the 29-year-old dead inside the vehicle. She was the sole occupant.

Major Crash Detectives are investigating, and NT Police warned at 8am only one lane of the road was open, and traffic delays were likely.

Police said there had been now been 51 people killed on Territory roads this year, compared to 21 at the same time last year.
