A 26-year-old woman has been charged with violent conduct causing death in connection to the death of a woman earlier this week in a community near Katherine.
NT Police alleged the women, who were related, engaged in an argument that “turned physical”.
“The 33-year-old had an existing medical condition, which appears to have been a contributing factor in her death,” said Detective Acting Superintendent Paul Lawson.
Police and paramedics were called to an incident in a community near Katherine around 11pm on Tuesday, with the woman dying at the scene an hour later, police said at the time.
“Paramedics commenced CPR, but unfortunately the 33-year-old woman died at the scene just after midnight.”
It was unclear what transpired in that hour from when police arrived to when the woman died.
On Thursday, police said the 26-year-old woman had been remanded and will appear in Darwin Local Court to answer to the charge of violent conduct causing death on July 25.
