A 32-year-old woman has been charged at the Darwin airport after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs and booze into a remote community in a speaker, NT Police said.

The contraband was discovered in the woman’s luggage by police dog Rafa. It appears the woman was travelling by air to the remote community believed to be Wadeye.

Police did not say what amount of cannabis or alcohol the woman was found with.

She is expected to appear in Wadeye Local Court on April 18.

“The 32-year-old woman was issued with a notice to appear after alcohol, cannabis and other items indicative of drug supply were located in her luggage,” police said in a statement.

“Anyone with information on the supply of alcohol or drugs to our communities can call police on 131 444 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
